Leading in an Agile Organization (Agile Leadership)

Course Description:

This course presents leadership activities that are required to succeed with Agile at scale. It provides guidance on the practices of “Agile Leadership”. Topics include: how to transition an organization, management techniques for scaling Agile, and working with executives.

Self-organizing, self-directed teams are the foundation of many agile methodologies, such as Scrum and Kanban. Traditional software development teams operate in a manner that is quite different from high-performing agile teams.

There are three main reasons for this, but the most significant is the amount of time that has passed since the software company established itself. The change in team leadership necessitates a corresponding change in management function.

Traditional management of a self-managed team is more likely to result in annoyance and, eventually, return to old working methods. Instead, we introduce the position of a catalytic leader and explore how catalytic leaders manage agile teams by setting the scene for the team to develop and learn.

We discover how to help teams produce goods on time and on budget without stifling the emerging self-governance and continual development of the organizations.
