This course is about psychological wellbeing and the science behind it. We will explore what happiness is, why it matters, and what we can do to increase our own happiness. The course is based on the latest scientific research in the field of positive psychology.

We will start by discussing what happiness is and why it matters. We will then move on to exploring some of the key factors that contribute to happiness. Finally, we will finish up by looking at ways in which we can increase our own happiness.

What Is Happiness?

Happiness is a difficult concept to define because it means different things to different people. In general, however, we can say that happiness is a state of positive well-being characterized by feelings of contentment, joy, and satisfaction. It is important to note that happiness is not just about feeling good in the moment; it also involves longer-term wellbeing and functioning, as well as a sense of meaning and purpose in life.

There are many factors that can contribute to happiness, including genetic predispositions, social relationships, material wealth and success, physical health and fitness, self-esteem, personal growth and development, meaningful activities and pursuits, balanced living habits, and a sense of connection with something larger than ourselves (e.g., religion or spirituality).

So how can we increase our own happiness? There is no single answer to this question. Instead, there are many small things we can do that will add up to create a more positive and fulfilling life. In this course, we will explore some of these happiness-boosting activities and habits. We will also look at the research on happiness, with a particular focus on what works and what doesn’t. By the end of this course, you should have a better understanding of what happiness is and how you can create more of it in your own life!

As we continue to explore the science of wellbeing, one important question that arises is: “What is happiness?” At its core, happiness refers to a state of positive well-being characterized by feelings of contentment, joy, and fulfillment. While some people may equate happiness with fleeting moments of pleasure or fun, it is important to note that true happiness goes beyond simply feeling good in the moment; it also involves longer-term wellbeing and functioning as well as a sense of meaning and purpose in life.
